Anjarwalla grew up in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Shirin was introduced to the game of golf by her dad and two older brothers, and the sport quickly became a popular family activity.
Anjarwalla graduated from Dover Bay Secondary where she was on the President’s list for five straight years. She decided to attend Simon Fraser University because of the opportunity to obtain a great, well rounded education while continuing to play competitive golf at the NCAA level. She is a declared Kinesiology major and intends on mastering in chiropractics.
As a junior, Anjarwalla won the BC Juvenile Championship with an overall score of -12. She also had several top 10 and 20 finishes in the BC Junior Girls Championships and the BC Women's Amateur Championships throughout her junior career. Anjarwalla also had the opportunity to represent BC and Canada at the Girls Junior Americas Cup, the North Pacific Ladies Match Play and the Western Canada Summer Games.
During Anjarwalla’s time at Simon Fraser University, she has struggled with a lower back injury which forced her to take a break from competitive golf. After some time off, which consisted of many physio appointments, rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning sessions, she was able to return to practice at the beginning of her sophomore year. During that spring semester, Anjarwalla traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina and Oakland, California to compete with her team in a pair of tournaments for the first time in several months. This in itself was a huge victory for Anjarwalla as she looks forward to building on that success and win some more titles alongside her team in the future.
Anjarwalla regularly volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke foundation in Nanaimo as a high school student. She would also volunteer at her home golf course, the Nanaimo Golf Club, in order to raise funds for their junior program. Currently, Shirin has become a member of SFU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee where she will look for ways to involve Simon Fraser with the community around them. Some of the current initiatives include doing food/clothing drives and Operation Christmas Child.
