Box Score
Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University women's volleyball team lost to the first place Western Washington University Vikings in straight sets of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-13 on Saturday night in the West Gym.

Amanda Renkema (Delta, BC) led the Clan with eight kills on the night and Jessica Young (Vancouver, BC) had seven but it was not enough to hold off the Vikings who are ranked 14th in the country.

“WWU is a very disciplined team and they don't make a lot of errors, but I was very pleased with the first two sets”, said head coach Lisa Sulatycki. ”We flipped our line up a little bit tonight and I thought we handled that well and we competed well."

Western Washington's Kayla Erickson registered 11 kills and three blocks in the win.

Alanna Chan (Port Moody, BC) led the Clan defensively as she finished the game with 16 digs.

The first set was close early on but with the score tied at six, the Vikings showed why they are the top team in the conference,  going on a 7-1 run to open up a 13-7 lead before winning the set 25-13.

In the second set, the Clan trailed most of the way but were within a few points of the Vikings for most of the set, battling to keep the score close.

However, with the score at 15-13, the Vikings pulled away, scoring 10 of the next 14 points to take the set 25-17.

The Clan led 5-4 early in the third set but the Vikings took control from there, taking the set 25-13, and the match three sets to none.

With the loss, the Clan's record now drops to 3-13 on the season and 0-9 in conference play.

They will be back in action Thursday night in the West Gym when they host the Northwest Nazarene University Crusaders at 7:00 p.m.
