Clan drop final home match of 2012 to 21st ranked SPU

BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team lost their last home game of the season 4-0 against the Seattle Pacific University Falcons on Thursday night at Terry Fox Field.

The Falcons scored four unanswered goals in the first half of the game.

Riley Dopps scored her first of the game in the 11th minute of the game. She earned her second of the game 10 minutes later off a cross just outside the 21-yard box.

Megan Lindsay and Kaylie Winston added two more goals for SPU as the Falcons secured a 4-0 lead before halftime.

Despite six shots, the Clan could not solve SPU, as the Falcons resorted to a defensive style of play in the second half.

"We came out with good intentions tonight but it didn't work out the way we wanted it to," said Lia Marining (North Vancouver, B.C.). "We were not on our marks and they took advantage of it early on."

Amanda Gilliland (Delta, B.C.) made nine saves in the game for the Clan.

With this loss, the Clan's record to 1-15 on the season, 0-13 in conference play.

The Clan will be back in action Saturday afternoon in Ellensburg, Wash., visiting the Central Washington University Wildcats at 1 p.m. in their final match of the 2012 season.
