10/19/2013 5:39:00 PM

Box Score Lacey, WA - The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team concluded their road trip against the Saint Martin's Saints on Saturday afternoon, dropping the match 2-1.

"We had some good chances in the second half," said Head Coach Shelley Howieson. "We just needed to handle the long balls better in the first."

Both Saints goals came from Kelli Bannerman with Bannerman scoring one in each half.

Her first came in the 34th minute after most of the opening half was played scoreless.

Bannerman scored into the left corner of the net on a free kick from 30-yards out. Jessica Christian got the assist.

The Saints second goal, which would prove to be the game winner, came in the 62nd minute from Bannerman with Christian getting the assist again and Nikki Roberts getting the second assist on the goal.

The Clan cut the home sides lead in half in the 72nd minute when Marissa Di Lorenzo (Burnaby, BC) scored her first goal of the season with Jenna Piovesan (Burnaby, BC) getting the assist but that was as close as SFU would get.

Simone Tessler (Eugene, OR) made four saves in the match for the Clan.

With the loss, the Clan's record drops to 0-8-2 in conference play and 0-10-2 overall.

The Clan will be back in action with their final two home games of 2013 next week when they host the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders on Thursday and the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets on Saturday.
