Clan return home following three-game winning streak

SFU beats WOU 3-1 to close road trip

Box Score Monmouth, OR – The Simon Fraser University volleyball team improved to a three-game winning streak on Saturday, defeating Western Oregon 3-1 on the road.
 
The Clan dropped the first set 25-19 before coming back to win the final three sets straight.
 
SFU battled throughout the first set as both teams were unable to pull away with a concrete lead, until the 16-16 mark where the Wolves scored nine to the Clan's three points to take set one.
 
The Clan responded in the second set, slowly adding to their lead and extending to a 20-12 score.
 
The Wolves attempted a comeback but were dealt a 25-17 loss.
 
In set three the Clan led from the start, taking the Wolves to a 17-10 lead midway through the set.
 
SFU was able to finish strong, winning 25-18 and moving to the possible match-set.  
 
Again, in the fourth, the Clan led from the get-go, solidifying their lead and holding off a last minute comeback attempt by the Wolves.
 
SFU would win the set 25-22, and the match 3-1.
 
Amanda Renkema had 14 kills on the night while Christine Howlett and Mackenzie Dunham added 12 and ten respectively.
 
Brooklynn Gould-Bradburry had 21 assists and 16 digs, while Danielle Curtis had 17 digs and assists on the night.
 
With the win the Clan improve to 12-5 overall and a 6-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference record.
 
The Clan are back in action in only one game this week as they host their travel partners from Western Washington.
 
The game on October 18 begins at 7:00 p.m. in SFU's West Gym.
