Burnaby, BC – Simon Fraser University Clan women's basketball player
Erin Chambers (Mission, BC) has been named the Basketball BC Outstanding Female University Player of the Year.
Chambers received the honour at the 2014 Basketball BC Hall of Fame and Awards at the Langley Events Centre on May 12.
The award caps off a season in which the junior received honourable mention on the All-American team and led the Clan to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
The junior led the GNAC in scoring, averaging 23.1 points per game during the 2013-14 season, the only player in the conference to average more than 20 points per game this year.
Those numbers also put her in sixth in NCAA Division II in scoring this season, the highest rank by a Clan player in that category since SFU joined the NCAA.
Chambers led her team in scoring in 24 of 30 contests this season, leading SFU to a 20-10 record overall.
She also broke seven GNAC records in her junior season, including field goals in a season (220), points in a season (692) and scoring average in a season (23.1).
