Box Score Bellingham, WA - The Simon Fraser University volleyball team fell 3-0 to nationally ranked Western Washington Saturday night.
WWU won the three sets 25-22, 25-19 and 25-13, displaying the composure that allows them their No. 10 ranking.
The conference leading Vikings came out strong as expected but the Clan matched their energy in the first set pressuring them to a 25-22 finish.
The two teams traded points in the first set, but WWU was able to secure their lead at the 15-11 mark and did not look back.
Despite the loss, the Clan demonstrated an elevated level of ability and composure than has been seen in past seasons.
SFU looked dangerous at many points in each set, challenging the talented Vikings side.
Devon May (Robert's Creek, BC) had a season high 11 kills for the Clan, while
Kelsey Robinson (Surrey, BC) added eight kills and 13 digs.
With the loss, the Clan fall to 7-4 overall, and a 1-2 record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
SFU will continue their road trip this week, as they travel to Billings, MT and Seattle, WA for games on Thursday and Saturday.
Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.
