Box Score
Seattle, WA - The Simon Fraser University volleyball team doubled their win streak Saturday night winning their second five-set game in a row, this time over Seattle Pacific University.

It was their first victory over the Falcons in their 14-game history, and an exciting back and forth match.

"The match was a bit of a roller coaster, similar to Thursday's game," said head coach Gina Schmidt. "But once again, the girls were able to execute the game plan when it counted."

SFU got off to a quick start, taking the first set 25-13 and shocking the Falcon's home crowd with the opener.

But SPU bounced back in the second set, albeit a much tighter game, tying the score at one set each with a 25-22 victory.

The the third set was a back and forth affair until the Falcons were able to break through to take a 20-15 lead and what looked to be a clear victory.

SFU was undeterred, as Kelsey Robinson (Surrey, BC) opened with a big kill to make it 20-16, and from there the Clan were able to mount a come-back, tying it at 21-21 moments later.

The two teams would trade points until at the 25-25 mark Madison Power gave the Clan a one-point advantage, and on the following play an attacking error by SPU gave the Clan a 28-26 win.

SPU would come back in the fourth to force the fifth and final set, taking the penultimate game 25-19.

At the 8-8 mark in the final set, Madeline Hait (Burnaby, BC) and Mackenzie Dunham (Lloydminster, AB) would team up for four huge blocks, protecting the Clan side and giving them the momentum to finish the set strong.

SFU would take the fifth 15-8, and the match 3-2.

With the win, the Clan move to 9-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Clan will be back in action this Thursday, October 2, as they return home to host the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders.

The game begins at 7:00 p.m. in the West Gym and admission is free for SFU students.
