POMONA, Calif. -- Simon Fraser University surrendered a 10-point second half lead and lost 66-60 to Cal State San Bernardino in a women's non-conference basketball game played at Cal Poly Pomona Friday evening.

Simon Fraser was leading 50-40 with 9:06 remaining in the game when the Coyotes got hot from 3-point land, hitting five 3-pointers down the stretch.

A 3-pointer by Chelsea Austin cut the Simon Fraser lead to one, 53-52, with 6:17 remaining. The Coyotes took the lead for good (57-54) with another three and CSUSB pushed the lead to nine on three occasions inside the final 2:43.

Simon Fraser led CSUSB 29-27 at the half and outscored the Coyotes 18-13 in the third quarter. But CSUSB scored 26 fourth quarter points for the victory.

Friday's game was the third straight loss for the Clan, who is playing five non-conference road games to start the season. SFU plays Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday at 4 PM.

Four Clan players reached double figures in scoring led by
Elisa Homer with 16 points. She was 3-of-11 from beyond the arc. Guard
Ellen Kett scored 13 points and senior forward
Meg Wilson and
Rachel Fradgley scored 10 points apiece. Â Wilson also pulled down 10 of the Clan's 37 rebounds.

CSUSB's Austin keyed the Coyotes with 19 points including five threes and eight rebounds in 37 minutes of play.

It was the first game of the season for CSUSB.

The Clan opens conference play at home on December 3 against Alaska Anchorage followed by a home game Saturday, Dec. 5 against Alaska Fairbanks beginning at noon in the West Gym. That game will be followed by a men's game at 2:30 PM. The games are being billed as the West Gym Whiteout and the first 1,000 fans receive SFU 50
th anniversary t-shirts.
