Chambers Named All-Region First Team

Clan senior Erin Chambers named to West Region First Team after setting GNAC all-time scoring record and finishing third in D2 scoring.

PORTLAND, OR. – For the second straight year, Simon Fraser University forward Erin Chambers has been selected to the 2014-15 Daktronics/Division II  Conference Commissioners Association West Region Women's All-Region First Team.
 
Chambers was the Great Northwest Athletic Conference 2015 Player of the Year after setting the GNAC all-time women's scoring record and finishing third in D2 scoring, averaging 23.5 points per game. The senior from Mission, BC, finished her career as the leading scorer in GNAC history with 1,946 points and started 113 of 114 games over her four-year career.
 
Chambers led SFU to a 15-13 overall record in 2014-15 but the Clan was eliminated in the GNAC tournament semifinals this year.
 
Center Morganne Comstock of Hawaii Pacific has been voted the West Region Player of the Year. Comstock  averaged a double-double (19.7 ppg, 11.0 rpg) in leading the Sharks (25-4) to the PacWest regular-season and tournament titles and earning PacWest Player of the Year honors.
 
Joining Chambers and Comstock on the Daktronics first team were Cal Poly Pomona center Jada Blackwell and forwards Megan Mullings of Alaska Anchorage and Kelly Hardeman of Azusa Pacific.
 
Blackwell, who was the 2014 West Region Player of the Year, and Chambers each earned first team all-region honors for the second year in a row.
 
Selected to the second team were guards Suzanna Ohlsen of Seattle Pacific, Stephanie Lopez of Cal State East Bay, Kylie Huerta of Hawaii Pacific and Ariel Marsh of Cal Poly Pomona, forward Farrah Shokoor of UC San Diego and center Darsha Burnside of California Baptist.  Marsh was a second team selection for the second year in a row.
 
Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot.  The All-American team will be announced Monday, March 23.
 
The D2SIDA All-America women's basketball team is sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
