BURNABY, BC – The potential for heavy rainfall has forced the Simon Fraser University softball doubleheader against Northwest Nazarene Crusaders originally scheduled for Friday this week at Beedie Field on campus to be moved to Thursday.
The Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM.
The four game series between the Clan and Crusaders continues on Saturday. Those games have also been moved and will now be played at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Simon Fraser is currently 13-17 this season and is sitting in sixth place in the GNAC with a 2-6 record. Northwest Nazarene is in seventh place with a 1-11 record. Saint Martin's leads the conference with a 7-1 record.
SFU's Taylor Lundrigan batted .333 (6-of-18) and
Danielle Raison hit .357 (5-of-14) and had a home run and four RBI to lead the Clan to a 2-4 record at the Tournament of Champions last weekend. SFU outhomered its six opponents 3-0. Alla Stachoski had both of the Clan's two victories and
Jessica Goulet had a 3.77 ERA, allowing seven earned runs in 13 innings. One of SFU's wins was over No. 21 Sonoma State 4-3.
Finally, the doubleheader against UBC scheduled for April 6 in North Delta has been cancelled. Simon Fraser will now host UBC at Beedie Field on April 19 in a single game that begins at 1:00 PM. The two teams split a double header earlier this season.
