BURNABY — The Simon Fraser University softball team had its playoff hopes dashed Saturday afternoon on Senior Day as they were unable to sweep the double header against the Central Washington University Wildcats.
The Clan needed to sweep their final four home games to have a chance at a Great Northwest Athletic Conference playoff berth. Led by seniors
Stephanie Caron,
Rachel Proctor and
Nicole Ratel, who all had key hits, including a three run home run by Ratel, Clan took a 7-6 victory in Game 1. Unfortunately, the Clan was unable to win the second game of the afternoon, losing 19-1.
The Clan recognized their six outgoing seniors on the final weekend of GNAC play as Caron,
Alex Baylak, Proctor,
Jessica Goulet,
Marina DeAngelis and Ratel are playing their final games with the Clan this weekend.
The Clan will play their final home games Sunday, April 24 at Beedie Field with first pitch scheduled for 12 & 2pm. They will look to play spoiler as the Concordia Cavaliers will come to town needing a single victory to clinch their berth in the GNAC playoffs.
