Simon Fraser with strong showing at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, CA --- 

On Saturday, the Simon Fraser Swim team was in Southern California to take on Pomona-Pitzer and University of Redlands in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. 

In the three-way team competition, Simon Fraser came out on top in all four matchups, besting Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer in both the Men's and Women's categories.  

On the Men's side, SFU topped Redlands 145-60, and also beat Pomona-Pitzer 120.5-115.5. On the Women's side, Simon Fraser topped Redlands 145-82, and beat out Pomona-Pitzer 128-109. 

In total, Simon Fraser had a first placed finisher (or team), in 18 of the 22 swimming events over the course of the meet. Individually, Collyn Gagne had 3 first place finishes (100 Yard IM, 1000 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle), while Kirsten Olvet recorded 2 first place finishes (1000 & 500 Yard Freestyles).  

Simon Fraser took first place in both 200 Yard Medley Relays, and Freshman swimmers Sage Haggerty (50 Yard Freestyle) and Olivia Kidd (100 Yard Butterfly) also recorded first place finishes.  

Up next, Simon Fraser will be back in the Lower Mainland competing against UBC and the University of Victoria on Jan 17th & 18th.
