Simon Fraser Secures Home Win on Senior Night

BURNABY, BC --- Saturday night in front a full house in the West Gym, The Simon Fraser Men's Basketball Team celebrated their four graduating seniors with an 82 to 74 win over the visiting Saint Martin's University Saints.

Feeling the momentum in the building after an emotional pre-game ceremony, Simon Fraser got off to a hot start, opening the game on a 10-3 run. The Seniors were impactful early on, and this was highlighted by Michael Hannan who went 3-3 from three point rage for nine points within the opening ten minutes. Simon Fraser built their lead to as many as 15 in the first half, but the visiting Saints were undeterred, closing the lead by ten before eventually heading to the half down seven at 41-34.

Simon Fraser responded with a strong start in the second half, sparked by a Graham Miller three, and once again the seniors led the way for SFU. After Othniel Spence hit a deep three point shot a few moments later, Simon Fraser was back up by twelve.

The home team kept the lead above ten for most of the second half, and with just 7:03 remaining, Simon Fraser was up by 15 after another basket by Othniel Spence

Michael Hannan put up another 11 points for SFU, while also notching 6 steals at the defensive end. Graham Miller was impactful as well, with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Other than the seniors, Jasdeep Singh had a strong night, putting up 17 points on 7 for 11 shooting. For the visitors, CJ Jennings led the way with 24 points.
