BURNABY, B.C. – Senior receiver Dallas Dixon leads the Simon Fraser selections to the 2021 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Football All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes & Noble College.

With a 3.65 grade-point average, Dixon, a Kinesiology major from Sherwood Park, Alta., earned the honour for the fourth time in his university career. He is one of three GNAC players this year to achieve this feat.

Fellow receiver Aidan Pearce of North Vancouver is on the GNAC All-Academic Team for the third-straight season (2019 and 2020-21). He is currently a Global Environmental Systems major with a 3.61 GPA.

Three SFU football players are making a repeat appearance:
Senior kicker/punter Kees Metselaar of Port Orchard, Wash. (3.45, Communication)
Sophomore offensive lineman Mark Ruby of Vancouver (3.38, Geography)
Sophomore quarterback Justin Seiber of Covington, Wash. (3.59, Business Administration)

Two players earned a spot on the GNAC All-Academic Team for the first time:
Freshman defensive back Kyle Huish of Port Coquitlam, B.C. (3.37, Kinesiology)
Freshman linebacker Dayton Ingenhaag of Vernon, B.C. (3.33, Kinesiology)

To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, presented by Barnes & Noble College, nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second year at the nominating institution.

Thanks to eligibility waivers provided by the NCAA due to the cancellation of the 2020 season, players who continue to hold freshman eligibility but are in their second season of competition at the nominating institution were eligible for selection to the GNAC All-Academic Team.
