INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Simon Fraser University men's and women's swimming teams will be well represented at the 2022 National Championships with five men and six women competing as the NCAA announced its list of invited swimmers and the upcoming field.
The National Championships are set to begin March 9-12 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The highest finish for either SFU team is ninth with the men placing ninth in 2019 while the women were ninth in 2013. It is the eighth trip to the NCAA Championships for the women and the sixth for the men. See history

Receiving invitations for the men were
Collyn Gagne (200 individual medley, 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly, and 200 backstroke),
Jayden Cole (200 backstroke) and
Leo Fath (200 freestyle). Gagne had the fourth fastest time in the 400 IM and he is ranked 20th in the 200 IM entering the championships. Gagne is also ranked 20th in the 200 butterfly. Gagne and Cole are seeded 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 200 back. Fath is seeded 15th in the 200 free.
Gagne was fourth in the 400 IM at the 2019 NCAA Championships while Cole swam relays at the 2019 championships. Fath is making his first appearance at nationals.
Mathew Fuller and
Jimmy Zhang will also be traveling and competing on the 800-yard freestyle relay team. SFU is seeded 17th in the event.
Isabelle Roth
On the women's side, six swimmers will be participating:
Kennedy Loewen (200 IM, 400 IM, and 100 FR);
Tori Meklensek (500 FR);
Isabelle Roth (100 BR, 200 BR);
Kaleigh Sharkey (100 FL, 100 FR).
Sharkey, who competed in the NCAA Championships in 2018 and 2019, is ranked ninth in 100 fly and 11th in the 100 free. She has eight top 10 finishes at nationals.
Loewen, Meklensek and Roth are making their first appearances at the NCAA Championships. Loewen is ranked 16th in 200 IM, 21st in 400 IM and 18th in the 100 free. Meklensek is seeded 13
th in the 500 free. Roth is ranked seventh in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 breast.
Jordan Doner and
Kaysha Bikadi will also be traveling and competing in relays. SFU is competing in 400 freestyle relay (seeded 12th), 200 medley relay (15th), 400 medley relay (7th) and 800 freestyle relay (13th) on the women's side.
Swimmers will be able to swim in additional events.
