BURNABY, B.C. – Simon Fraser lost 1-0 to Concordia (Calif.) Thursday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer game played at Harrington Field in Bellingham, Washington.
Brianna Guerra scored the lone goal in the 84th minute, heading in a corner kick at the far goalpost.

Sarah Loewen had a strong performance in net for the second-consecutive contest. She made six saves, three in each half. The Golden Eagles outshot SFU 16-2, and held a 7-1 advantage in shots on net. Ball possession was also in Concordia's favour, 57 per cent to 43 per cent. The Golden Eagles, who are members of the PacWest Conference, also had a slim 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
Both SFU shots came in the second half. Sophomore midfielder
Avery Tulloch, who played all 90 minutes for the second game in a row, had a 61st minute shot that went high. Then in the 75th minute, sophomore midfielder
Kate Cartier fired a shot on net, forcing Concordia goalkeeper Riley Urquiza to make the save. Cartier saw 73 minutes of action in her 2022 season debut on Thursday.
SFU is now 1-1 on the season after defeating MSU Denver last week at home. The team's next games will take place next week in California. On Thursday, Sept. 8, SFU will play at California State Dominguez Hills (5 p.m.) in Carson. Saturday's contest will take place at California State Los Angeles with an 11 a.m. kickoff.
