BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser Red Leafs are fourth in the team standings at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf West/South Central Regional heading into Saturday's final round. The top five squads will clinch a berth to the 2023 NCAA Div. II Men's Golf Championships, scheduled for May 22-26 in Warren, Ohio.
The competition for those five places will be fierce on Saturday at the Foxtail Golf Club (par-72, 6851 yards) in Rohnert Park, California. SFU has a two-round score of 6-over-par 582, after today's result of 5-over 293. The Red Leafs trail Colorado Christian (6-under 570), West Texas A&M (3-over 579) and Oklahoma Christian (4-over 580).
They are a shot ahead of GNAC rival Western Washington (7-over 583). Three other teams – host Sonoma State of California (8-over 594), Chico State (California) and Colorado State Pueblo (both 9-over 585) – are within a couple strokes of WWU.
SFU had a strong finish, as its players recorded seven birdies over the final three holes of the day.
Aidan Goodfellow (Parksville, B.C.) shot an excellent score of 4-under 68 in Friday's second round, thanks in part to six birdies. The senior moved up a dozen spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for second place with a two-round score of 4-under 140

Michael Crisologo is tied for 34th at 3-over 147. In today's round, the junior from Richmond, B.C., had three birdies as part of 2-over 74.
Sophomore
Bailey Bjornson (Surrey, B.C.) signed for a 3-over 75, which included three birdies. Two of them came in the final three holes, on Nos. 16 and 17. He is tied for 44th heading into Saturday's action at 4-over 148.
Senior
Jordan Bean (Canmore, Alta.) is one of four players in 64th place at 7-over 151. He posted a birdie en route to an 8-over 80 in Round 2.
Ryan Hodgins improved six spots to sit in a tie for 88th at 11-over 155. The sophomore fired a 4-over 76 in Friday's second round, which included three birdies. Hodgins nearly aced the par-3 sixth hole, before tapping in for the 2. The golfer from Medicine Hat, Alta., also birdied 16 and 17. He was one of four Red Leafs to birdie the par-4 16th hole.

SFU will commence the final round Saturday at 11:50 a.m., when Hodgins will tee off from the first hole, followed by Bean (12 noon), Bjornson (12:10 p.m.), Crisologo (12:20 p.m.) and Goodfellow (12:30 p.m.). The players will be paired with athletes from Sonoma State and Western Washington.
