The Simon Fraser University volleyball team showcased their resilience and skill in a thrilling GNAC Conference match against the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets, securing a 3-1 victory with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-14.

The match began with a dominant display from SFU, as they took the first set decisively. Led by Davida Hill, who recorded an impressive 15 kills, the team set the tone early. Hill's powerful spikes and relentless serving game helped SFU establish a commanding lead.

The Yellowjackets rallied back in the second set, capitalizing on SFU's unforced errors to take their only set of the match. In the final two sets, SFU regained control, showcasing their depth and talent, mainly through standout performances from Brooke Dexter, who contributed six of the team's 14 aces, and Eva Person, who added four of her own. Defensively, Ezawa Malish was a force at the net with nine blocks. At the same time, Macyn Unger led the backline with 15 digs, helping to thwart the Yellowjackets' attacks.

A notable moment in the match came from the opposing team, as senior libero Christine Funk of Montana State Billings made history by breaking her school's all-time career digs record, previously set 25 years ago. Funk recorded 19 digs during the match, bringing her career total to 1,548 digs, solidifying her place in Yellowjackets history.

Reflecting on the match, SFU Head Coach Gina Schmidt praised her team's performance, stating, "Our servers did a great job finding their targets tonight. We let them back in the game with some unforced errors in the 2nd set, but I liked how we recovered and regained our focus in the final two sets."

This victory boosts SFU's confidence as they continue their GNAC campaign and highlights their potential as strong contenders in the conference.
