SFU Volleyball delivered a weekend to remember at the Western Washington Volleyball Invitational, notching three consecutive victories and rewriting the program's NCAA history books.
The Red Leafs kicked off the tournament with a commanding three-set sweep over No. 3 St. Cloud State on Thursday, September 4. The team then went on to take down No. 4-ranked San Francisco State in a 3-2 victory on Friday.
After trailing 18-12 in the opening set, the Red Leafs mounted an incredible comeback, scoring 13 unanswered points to win 25-18. The momentum carried through to the decisive fifth set, where SFU achieved a historic 15-0 shutout. This is the first time the team has won a set without conceding a single point since joining the NCAA.
SFU capped off the weekend with another five-set victory, this time over No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday. With three straight preseason wins, the Red Leafs are off to a blazing start and building serious momentum heading into the regular season.
