Biography

Kalissa Beltran – Surrey, BC / Semiahmoo Secondary
Position: Libero/Defensive Specialist
Height: 5'2" 
Club Team: Team Academy
Schmidt: "We look forward to having Kalissa bolster our depth at the DS/L position and help continue the strong defensive tradition in our program. Kalissa brings a ton of speed and athleticism to the back court and she has the ability to energize her teammates with her positive attitude and tenacious defense."
 
A native of Surrey, Kalissa Beltran will be graduating from Semiahmoo Secondary in June. She was the libero for her school team that finished in fourth place at the 2017 AAAA Provincial Championships. She earned a spot on the all-star team with her performance at that tournament and over her high school career, she received a total of four all-star and two MVP honours. In club volleyball, Beltran, along with Anderson, Vosloh and Hartmann, won gold with Team Academy in 2017 at both the U17 Provincial and National Championships.

"I loved SFU after my first volleyball camp in 2016," said Beltran. "I thought that SFU would be the perfect school for me to succeed academically and athletically." She plans on pursuing a Health Sciences major at Simon Fraser to prepare her for a career as an occupational therapist.
