Simon Fraser University Athletics

Personal: Jaeda, who grew up in Kelowna with parents Janene and Gerald and little brother Quinn, is majoring in Kinesiology at SFU.  Her favourite movies are Pitch Perfect and Letters to Juliet but she likes all romance movies. Her favourite food is sushi and in her free time she likes spending time with family and friends, hiking, boating, and skiing.
 
High School: During high school Jaeda was enrolled in an athlete academy which allowed her to train for half of the school day everyday as well as being surrounded by likeminded high level athletes. She was a competitive dancer from the age of 3, and always dreamt of being a professional dancer, until she hit 6’0” (perfect for basketball!).  After being accepted into one of the top ballet schools in the country, she was told that she was too tall to ever be a dancer, nevertheless, she continued dancing but decided she needed to find something else, and her parents encouraged her to play basketball. In her grade 11 year she was invited to play for the Kelowna Secondary School AAA senior girls team She ended up being recruited to SFU because she attended summer camp, but broke her hand early on the second day.  She went to hospital and came back in a cast and for the rest of the week she watched and filled out a notebook of everything that she saw. Her attitude made her an obvious addition to the team. 
 
University: After redshirting the 2013-14 season, Jaeda hit the court for the first time in the fall of 2014. She has missed part of the season due to ankle injuries, but is a contributor in the post rotation, averaging 50% from the field, 100% from the free-throw line.
