Biography

Jocelyn Sherman – Victoria, BC / Belmont Secondary
Position: Outside Hitter
Height: 5'10"
Club Team: Victoria Volleyball Association
Schmidt: "Jocelyn has been a go-to hitter on her school & club teams and is used to carrying a large load offensively. She also provides a consistent presence in the back court with her serve receive and defense. Jocelyn comes from a high school with a long history of success and we look forward to her bringing that experience and competitive fire into our gym on a daily basis."

Jocelyn Sherman is a Honour Roll student at Belmont Secondary, where she won back-to-back AAAA Senior Provincial Championships in 2016 and 2017. In the recent 2018 Vancouver Island Championships, she led her team to the tournament title and she was recognized as the MVP. Sherman has represented BC several times, including winning a BC Summer Games gold medal in 2016 and a Canada Cup gold medal in 2018. 

As a club volleyball player, Sherman earned a Western Nationals Div. II Tier 1 silver medal in 2018 and a bronze in 2017. Academically, she plans to major in Education in SFU to become a physical education and biology teacher.

Why SFU? "My main reason for choosing SFU was head coach Gina Schmidt because of her accomplishments as an athlete and her coaching style. I wanted to go to a university that will make me a better student-athlete and I was very impressed with the volleyball program at SFU. During my visit, I felt welcomed by both the coaches and players and immediately, I knew this was the community I wanted to be a part of as a student athlete."
