Billings, MT - The Simon Fraser University volleyball team lost in straight sets on Thursday night to the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets.
Jessica Young (Vancouver, BC) had eight kills for SFU while Madeline Hait (Burnaby, BC) and Amanda Renkema (Delta, BC) each had six.
Tamara Nipp (Vancouver, BC) had 24 assists for SFU in the match while Alanna Chan (Port Moody, BC) led the way in digs with 18.
Jody Lutz and Monica Grimsrud tied for the team and game lead with 11 kills each Kyndal Williams led all players with 34 assists and Erin Compton led all players with 20 digs.
The Clan led for a good portion or the opening set, holding a 13-11 advantage over the Yellowjackets midway through.
MSUB caught fire though and outscored the Clan 14-3 the rest of the way to take the first set 25-16.
SFU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second set and the match became tied at three early on. The Yellowjackets then scored five of the next six points to take a 8-4 lead, eventually taking the set 25-12.
The Clan continued to fight in the third set and held a 17-12 advantage late. The Simon Fraser women could not close it out though as the Yellowjackets came back to take the third set 25-20, and the match three sets to none.
With the loss, the Clan's record falls to 4-21 on the season, 1-17 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.
Simon Fraser will close out the season on Saturday night when they visit the Seattle Pacific Falcons at 7:00 p.m.
