Burnaby, BC - Simon Fraser University women's basketball player Erin Chambers (Mission, BC) has been named the Student Athlete Advisory Committee Athlete of the Week for January 20-26, 2014.

The award is based on weekly performances from Monday through Sunday and athletes are nominated and voted on by members of SFU's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Chambers was awarded for her 64 point weekend that led the Clan women to two much needed victories in a very tight conference.

The junior is the scoring leader in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference averaging 22.8 points per game.

Teammates credit her with dedication and the will to get things done, saying that she comes to play every single game no matter what.

Chambers was also named the GNAC Red Lion POW for this same week.

The women's basketball team is in action in the West Gym this Thursday at 7:30 when they take on the SPU Falcons.
