10/9/2014 9:23:00 PM

Box Score Lacey, WA – The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team suffered a loss on the road Thursday, falling 3-1 to Saint Martin's.

The Clan continued their consistent scoring and shooting, a large improvement on the 2013 season, but were unable to earn the win over the Saints.

The majority of the game was played at a score of 1-1 until the home side was able to pull away in the final 15 minutes.

SMU opened the scoring in the third minute to make it 1-0, but the Clan responded seven minutes later as freshman Sierra Leung put home an unassisted goal, her second of the season.

From there, the Clan continued to press in the Saint's end, putting together six shots to SMU's one in the first half.

In the second period, however, the home side came back with energy, recording 11 shots in the second 45-minutes including the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute.

Saint Martin's would make it 2-1, and despite a pair of chances for the Clan, were able to secure that lead and the game in the 86th minute with the 3-1 goal.

Goalkeeper Priya Sandhu had four saves on the night for SFU.

With the loss the Clan fall to 2-9 on the season and 2-5 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

SFU will continue their 2014 campaign this Saturday, as they take on the Western Oregon Wolves.

Kick-off in Monmouth, OR is at 11:00 a.m.
