Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University Clan soccer team has added another to their 2014 recruiting class as
Callum Powell will join the Clan from Leamington, England.
"Callum is a very dynamic footballer," said Head Coach
Alan Koch. "He is incredibly skilled and has a nice change of pace. He is clinical in the final third and is a player I am excited to work with. We hope to maximize his abilities and see how far we can take him in the game."
Powell plays as a winger for the Northhampton under-18's, where he has played since he was 10 years old and made his under-18 debut as a 14 year old.
He has played for the reserves in both season's as a youth team player and helped the youth team make program history with two goals and four assists in four rounds at the FA Youth Cup.
"I was attracted to Simon Fraser by the fantastic football opportunity presented to me to play in one of the nicest cities in the world," said Powell. "I am excited to play for a winning team and challenge for national championships while furthering my education. I would describe myself as a quick, skillful and creative player. I also like to get on the ball and run at the opposition to try and make things happen."
Powell has won the Northhamptonshire Cup three times.
"Next season I hope to play a big part in helping Simon Fraser win a national championship by contributing both goals and assists. I also want to make a good impression for myself in my first year and show everybody what I can do as a player," finished Powell.
