Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University Clan volleyball team opened up the first of four non-conference home games this week with a straight sets victory over the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.
The Clan won the first set 25-17, the second set 25-14 and the third 25-17.
Devon May (Robert's Creek, BC) led the team with 12 kills followed by
Amanda Renkema (Delta, BC), who also reached double digits with 10.
May also led the team in digs with 11 while
Kelsey Robinson (Surrey, BC) had nine and
Alison McKay (Port Moody, BC) had eight.
"It was a fun game, we felt really prepared and it was exciting to get going," said May. "We had a really good scrimmage against Trinity Western and I think that helped us feel prepared and comfortable."
With the win, the Clan open the 2014 season 1-0.
They will be back in action on Friday in the West Gym against the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m.
