Erin Chambers scored 32 points to move into second place among the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-time scoring leaders as Simon Fraser University Clan defeated Northwest Nazarene Crusaders, 83-67, Saturday afternoon in the West Gym.
Chambers (Mission, BC), the NCAA Division II scoring leader, moved past Rebecca Kielpinski of University of Alaska Anchorage (2005-09) and into second place on the all-time scoring list with 1,782 career points. With five conference games remaining, Chambers is now 50 points shy of breaking the record of 1,831 points held by Bobbi Knudsen of Montana State Billings (2010-14).
Saturday, Chambers scored 32 points on 8 of 17 shooting, pulled down 11 rebounds and added six assists before departing with two minutes left in a contest the Clan led the entire way after the Crusaders scored the opening basket.
It was the third time this season Chambers surpassed the 30-point mark, including a career-high 34 points in a 90-69 win over Colorado Christian earlier this season.
For the second straight game Simon Fraser was deadly accurate from three-point range, hitting 10 of 22 in the first half and racing out to a 44-28 halftime lead. After building a 16-point halftime lead SFU was never threatened in the second half.
The Clan finished with 15 three-pointers (15 of 38, 38.5%) one fewer than they scored against Central Washington two games ago and two short of equaling the conference record.
In its last two games, both victories, the Clan has hit 31 of 61 shots from beyond the arc. By comparison, Northwest Nazarene did not score one three-pointer in the game, missing all six shots. . Chambers was 6 of 9 from three-point range.
Senior guard
Katie Lowen (Lethbridge, AB) scored 18 points on 7 of 18 shooting while sophomore guard
Ellen Kett dished out 10 assists.
Simon Fraser recorded 22 assists on its 28 field goals.

Simon Fraser moves to 8-5 in the GNAC, 12-9 overall. NNU falls to 3-10, 5-17 overall. The top six teams receive a berth in the conference tournament, and SFU currently sits in fourth place.
The Clan goes on the road for a pair of games next week before returning to the West Gym for a game Thursday, Feb. 19 against nationally ranked and conference leading Alaska Anchorage (11-1 GNAC, 21-1 overall).
