BURNABY, BC – Simon Fraser University women's basketball celebrated its annual Pink Game by giving its fans a 66-59 win over Western Oregon in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action Saturday night in the West Gym.

It was the second straight win for the Clan and the game came down to the final few minutes. The Clan held a four-point lead, 60-56, with 3:47 to play before going on a 5-0 run over the next three minutes to seal the victory.

Simon Fraser is now 9-8 overall and is in fifth place in the conference at 7-5. Western Oregon has slipped to the bottom of the GNAC with a 3-17 record (2-10 in conference play).

Western Oregon held a two point lead at the end of the first half, making it necessary for SFU to come-from-behind to win the game. Western Oregon held a seven point lead midway through the second quarter but Simon Fraser took control from that point on.

The lead changed eight times but the Clan never trailed after the 5:44 mark of the third quarter.

The Wolves nearly matched the Clan in field goal percentage, posting 39.1 percent, whereas Simon Fraser finished at 41.2 percent. But the Clan went 10-for-26 behind the arc, compared to 2-for-14 by Western Oregon.

Elisa Homer led the Clan with four three-pointers. Homer had 15 points, going 5-for-12 from the field and adding two assists.

SFU's Alisha Roberts put up 16 points, finishing 3-of-8 three-point attempts and 3-of-4 free throw attempts.

Clan point guard Ellen Kett showed off her playmaking abilities by recording 5 assists to go along with 14 points. The NCAA D2 top three-point shooter was 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

Simon Fraser was out-rebounded 37 to 25. The Clan also turned the ball over 5 more times than Western Oregon. However, SFU scored 20 of their points off turnovers, which were 12 more than Western Oregon.

Kelsey Henry led the Wolves with eight points, coming off the bench.

SFU's West Gym was decorated in pink and the team raised over $4,000 dollars in support of breast cancer awareness.
