BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser football team fell 51-10 to the Angelo State Rams in a non-conference game Saturday in San Angelo, Texas.

Sophomore Kristie Elliott kicked a field goal, and junior receiver Robert Meadors caught a touchdown pass to provide the offence for SFU (1-5).

Junior defensive back Brendan Lowry intercepted an Angelo State pass at the SFU 35-yard line and returned it to the 48, giving his team the ball with 11:39 left in the second quarter.

On the ensuing possession, Elliott nailed a 30-yard field goal to put the first points on the scoreboard for SFU with 6:31 to go before halftime. The kick cut the team's deficit to 15-3. It capped off an 11-play, 40-yard drive that took up 5:08. The longest play on the drive was a 20-yard connection between sophomore quarterback Justin Seiber and senior receiver Dallas Dixon.

SFU trailed 23-3 at halftime.

The team recorded its only touchdown with just under three minutes to go in the third quarter. Meadors caught a tipped ball and ran it into the end zone for the 13-yard score. His second TD catch of the year cut SFU's deficit to 30-10. It was Seiber's eighth TD pass of 2021. SFU's drive covered 75 yards on eight plays.
