Wisotzki sisters combine to score 32 points in first win in 611 days.

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Wisotzki sisters, Sophia and Jessica, combined to score 32 points to lead SFU women's basketball team to its first win in 611 days, 71-67, over Seton Hill (Pennsylvania) at the D2CCA Tip-off Classic at the Trailhead on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Wisotzki sisters went 8-of-17 combined on three-pointers, scoring nearly half of SFU's 71 points, but it took a 9-2 run to close out the game for SFU to secure the win.
 
Freshman Sophia Wisotzki was 5-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 on threes, scoring 14 points, adding 6 assists and 2 steals. Older sister Jessica Wisotzki, a sophomore, scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 4-of-10 on threes.
 
Freshman forward Gemma Cutler scored 13 points and senior forward Claudia Hart added 10 points and 6 rebounds.
 
SFU improves to 1-1 in the tournament with its final game Sunday against Montevallo.
 
Simon Fraser outscored the Griffins 20-2 over the back half of the first quarter led by as many as 19 points, leading 41-26 at the half. 
 
With Simon Fraser leading 52-36, the Griffins went on a 13-0 run over a four minute stretch to get into the game, and were down 1 point, 56-55, at the end of the third quarter. 
 
SHU a 65-62 lead with 3:48 left but SFU responded with an 8-0 run and never trailed the rest of the way.
 
While SFU was just 3-of-26 on three-pointers in its first game the team went 10-of-31 Saturday, led by the sisters. The Griffins were 11-of-16 on threes which enabled them to get back into the game
 
SFU won the battle on the boards by 10, 47 to 37.
 
SFU moved the ball well and had an impressive 21 assists on 27 field goals (27-of-70).
 
UP NEXT
Montevallo made the most of the pandemic-impacted season, going 14-7 overall and taking second place in the Gulf South Conference eastern division at 13-4 in league play. The Falcons' strong season came to an end in the opening round of the NCAA D2 South Region Championships, as they fell to Union University 70-65. The team enters the 2021-22 season coming off back-to-back winning campaigns, as it went 18-11 overall during the 2019-20 season.
