SAN DIEGO – SFU delivered a second straight dominant performance inside Golden Gymnasium, taking down nationally ranked Cal-State San Bernardino in four sets Friday morning at the Point Loma Seaside Invitational.
The No. 3 ranked CSUSB Yotes took game one against Simon Fraser, but SFU bounced back in a big way for their second straight win, taking the next three sets in a 3-1 victory.
Sets one, two, and four were all separated by just two points, as Simon Fraser won the match 23-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-23. SFU hit at a .299 percentage, while the Yotes struggled offensively hitting just .160 as SFU had 65 digs.
The SFU frontline was dominant with
Brooke Dexter leading the team in kills for the second straight game with 24, and
Camryn Vosloh chipping in with 17, and
Jocelyn Sherman, 12. Dexter, a freshman, was not too far off the GNAC record of 32 kills in a 4-set match.
Farnaaz Johal added four blocks.
SFU had a 63-46 edge in kills, 65-48 edge in digs and a 56-37 advantage in assists.
Julia Tyas was phenomenal with 51 assists while also adding 10 digs. Biance Te led SFU with 20 digs.
