Brooke Dexter and Hanna Kolof earn spots on CSC Academic All-District® NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Team

BURNABY, B.C. – Two Simon Fraser volleyball players have been recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom. Opposite Brooke Dexter (Anchorage, Alaska) and outside hitter Hanna Kolof (Vancouver), both sophomores, were named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Team.
 
Nominees must be of sophomore standing or greater, be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater and must have participated in at least 50 per cent of their team's matches
 
Dexter is a biological studies student with a 3.69 GPA, while Kolof holds a 3.57 GPA as a kinesiology major. Both were also members of the 2022 Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, and important contributors to SFU on the court.
 
Dexter made the GNAC All-Conference First Team after leading the team in points per set (3.41) and kills per set (2.85). She ranked seventh in the GNAC in both categories. Dexter was also the conference's Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 5-11, 2022. She appeared in all 27 SFU matches this season, starting 26.
 
Kolof played 25 matches in 2022, starting 17. She was second on the Red Leafs with 30 service aces and 204 digs. Kolof was fifth on the team in kills per set (1.35) and points per set (1.77).
 
Nominated by members of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the Academic All-America has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions since its inception in 1952.
 
The conference's honorees are now eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-America Volleyball Team, which will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
