ALAMOSA, Colo.— Simon Fraser lost a pair of dual meets to NCAA Super 6 Regional competitors Thursday afternoon at Plachy Hall but
Taniela Feliciano-Takafua and
Logan Nelson won a pair of matches to remain unbeaten this season.
Feliciano-Takafua ran his undefeated streak to 30-0 while Nelson, injured much of the fall semester, is now 9-0.
Feliciano-Takafua scored a 3-1 sudden fall victory over Sammy Deseriere of Western Colorado in the opening dual and Feliciano-Takafua pinned Aiden Butler of Adams State at the 5:37 mark of their 285-pound match for his 30
th win.
At 184 pounds,
Logan Nelson worked his way to a 5-3 decision over Cole Gray (Western Colorado) and followed that with 14-1 win over Ben Tonnessen of Adams State.
Western Colorado opened the afternoon tri-dual by defeating Simon Fraser, 32-12 and then SFU lost to Adams State, 29-16.
Western won seven out of the 10 duals as SFU forfeited the 125-pound weight class. SFU picked up a win when
Riley Prough pinned Zack Flowers 2:24 into their match at 133-pounds. It appeared SFU's
Magnus McCrackin was on his way to a victory as well, leading 5-2. However, Hunter Mullin won in the final 11 seconds of period three, earning a takedown, four-point near fall and one-point for riding time for a 9-5 decision.
Adams State won the first five matches before Simon Fraser won four of the next five
Besides Feliciano-Takafua and Nelson, SFU picked up wins from McCrackin, a 7-2 decision over Samuel Loera at 165, and
Patrik Leder, with a 10-3 decision over Cody Lewis at 184 against Adams State.
SFU will wrestle tomorrow against Colorado State Pueblo before turning their attention to the NCAA Super 6 Regional tournament at Colorado Mesa on Feb. 26.
