SFU explodes for 30 hits and 24 runs in sweep of Wildcats

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A pair of big innings propelled Simon Fraser University to a pair of wins over Central Washington University 16-7 and 9-8 Saturday afternoon. The non-conference games were originally scheduled to be played at SFU but were moved when Beedie Field experienced unplayable weather related conditions.

SFU had 30 hits, scored 24 runs and had home runs by Kristen Davyduke and Hannah Boulanger in the two-game series sweep. Boulanger went 4-of-7 with 3 RBI on the day while Chelsea Hotner was 5-of-7 at the plate with three doubles and 4 RBI. Hanna Finkelstein was 3-of-7 with 3 doubles and 5 RBI. Alex Ogg was 5-of-9 and Janique Balcaen had four hits in seven plate appearances.

The Wildcats chipped away at Simon Fraser's lead in the fifth and sixth innings, taking a 7-6 lead.

The one-run advantage disappeared in the bottom of the sixth. A two-run double from Finkelstein gave SFU an 8-7 lead. They added another eight runs, including a game-ending two-run double.

GAME TWO | CWU 8, SFU 9
