Devin O’Hea scores 2nd of season to lift SFU to second straight win

CHICO, Calif — Devin O'Hea scored off a header in the 72nd minute to lift SFU men's soccer to its second straight victory, 1-0 over Chico State Saturday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium.

O'Hea was left alone between two players off the far post. A long cross from Niko Papakyriakopoulos on the right wing went into the penalty box where it appeared Matt Hobson flicked it into the air far post. O'Hea quickly headed it past goalkeeper Luis Albarran into the far corner. Albarran didn't move on the shot. Hobson was not officially credited with an assist.

It is O'Hea's second goal in as many games and lifted SFU's non-conference record to 2-1-0. Chico State falls to 1-2-1.

SFU junior goalkeeper Justyn Sandhu, a transfer from Div. I St. Bonaventure (N.Y.), recorded his second straight shutout, stopping four shots. Chico State directed 15 shots at the SFU goal.

SFU had six shots with Albarran making one stop.

SFU will continue with two more road games in Colorado (Sept. 8 & 10) before opening its conference schedule at Montana State Billings on Sept. 22. SFU is ranked No. 1 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coaches' Poll.

SFU plays its GNAC home opener on Sept. 29 at SFU Stadium.
