BURNABY, B.C. – Four Simon Fraser women's wrestlers won their weight classes Sunday at the Menlo Open in Atherton, California, while another two placed second.

Maddie MacKenzie won the 109-pound division, going unbeaten in four bouts. The wrestler from Calgary beat Norma Can of Vanguard (California) by technical fall, and then pinned Sabrina Sinohui (Cerritos College). In the semifinal round, MacKenzie scored the first 10 points to dispatch Aphrodite Ayala.

In the final, she defeated teammate Golrokh Nouri (Coquitlam, B.C.) via technical fall (10-0). Nouri got a bye in the first round and then won her next two matches by technical fall – 12-2 over Lucy Guadarrama (Cerritos College) and 12-1 against Barbara Greenberg (Menlo) – to reach the final.

Victoria Seal (Mission, B.C.) swept her three 116-pound bouts to win the weight class. She took her quarter-final by technical fall before pinning Menlo's Ajayzee Zaballos, the seventh-ranked wrestler in the NAIA.
