Kiera Scott and Senior Goaltender
Sarah Loewen were both selected to the Division 2 Conference Commisioner's Association All-West Region First Team on Tuesday. Both of these athletes were huge reasons why SFU Women's Soccer had their best season ever in the NCAA era, finishing the season with a 14-3-5 record, winning their third consecutive GNAC Conference Championship, and making it to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.
Kiera Scott from Coquitlam, B.C. led the Red Leafs with a career high 13 goals, with 7 of them being game winners. In the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Scott scored 2 goal in only 44 minutes of playing time, including the game winner, in SFU's first ever NCAA tournament win. Scott was also named to the 2025 GNAC First Team All-Conference and was named to the D2CCA All-Region Second Team in 2024.
Sarah Loewen of Burnaby, B.C. patrolled the SFU net all year long, starting all 22 games and only allowing 16 goals. Loewen had 12 shutouts on the season and finishes her career with 31 total. In the GNAC Conference Championships, Loewen had two shutout victories and was named the 2025 GNAC Championship Most Valuable Player. She was also named the 2025 GNAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a first team all-GNAC. Loewen leaves the Red Leafs with several NCAA-era career records for SFU, including best goals against average (0.81), best save percentage (0.843), most saves (291), most shutouts (31), most goalie minutes played (6015) and most wins (37).
