Men's Basketball competed in the NAIA from 1968 to 2000, before moving to Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) from 2000 to 2010, and then in 2010 to NCAA Division 2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.  During SFU's 50th anniversary celebrations the men's basketball program contributed three of the 50 Most Incredible Moments in SFU Athletics history from its years competing in the NAIA.
