After finishing his university career in 2022, Josiah Mastandrea turned professional and played with the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada.

He joins the SFU coaching staff in 2022-23 while he completes his degree.

In 2021-22, Mastandrea was SFU's top three-point shooter, making 38.2 per cent of his opportunities (55 of 144) in 25 contests. He ranked 20th in the GNAC in three-point shooting percentage. His 2.2 three-point field goals per game was seventh-best in the conference.

Mastandrea averaged 8.4 points per appearance. His career-best for points in a game at the NCAA Division II level is 25. Mastandrea posted this total twice, on Nov. 21, 2021 vs. Langara and on Feb. 22, 2022 at Northwest Nazarene (Idaho).

A graduate of Terry Fox Secondary School, Mastandrea spent three years at Douglas College before joining Canada's NCAA team in 2020. SFU didn't play games during the 2020-21 campaign because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
