Prior To SFU
Knutsen has played left wing, attacking midfield and striker in his hometown of Mo i Rana, Norway. Knutsen’s Clan connection is his father, who played for Simon Fraser from 1987-91.    
 
“I chose to come to SFU because of its fantastic soccer program,” said Knutsen. ”Several Norwegians have played for the team, including my father, and have had great experiences. I see the SFU program as a great opportunity to develop myself as a player by facing some major competition playing teams from the US.”
 
The 5-foot-6 Knutsen attended Polarsirkelen Videregående in high aschool and played for Mo IL in the Norwegian national league second division in 2016. As a youth player he won U19 championships in 2014 and 2015. Playing with the youth club Bossmo & Yttere, Knutsen finished in the top eight at the prestigious Dana Cup U16 division in 2014.
 
“It’s a big step coming over from Norway but I can hardly wait to start training with the team,” he said. “My main goal is to contribute to the team and the program and help SFU to win its first NCAA national championship.
