BURNABY, BC – Simon Fraser University scored early and often to defeat Saint Martin's University 4-0 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer match Thursday on Terry Fox Field.
Freshman
Mamadi Camara scored twice in the first half, one on a beautiful individual effort, and
Michael North and
Kyle Jones added second-half insurance markers as the Clan rolled to just its second win of the season.
Simon Fraser improves to 2-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the GNAC. SMU falls to 1-6-1 overall and 0-4-0 in conference play.
It was the Clan's first four goal game of the season.
"This is the SFU way and how this team is built," said Clan head coach
Clint Schneider. "When we score goals, we score in bunches. The guys who have been a part of this team for a while know this is how we win games."
"When we finish opportunities like we did tonight I would put us against anyone in the nation," said Schneider.
Much like its first victory of the season, the Clan scored first eight minutes in when Camara scored from close range off a rebound. Camara would score his second goal of the game and third of the season in the 38
th minute. Camara received the ball just past midfield and dribbled up the heart of the Saints' defence past five defenders, finally slipping the ball by SMU's Nick Rosato in net.

https://youtu.be/ltfuTVwamNg Michael North popped his first goal of the season after he took a shot from the left corner of the box four minutes into the second half and
Kyle Jones scored 14 minutes after that.
"We have had a couple of games this year where we haven't been rewarded for our efforts so it was good to see us score a couple of goals, some through build up and others on great individual efforts," said Schneider.
Simon Fraser was without six injured players, including senior captain
Ryan Dhillon and senior midfielder
Alex Rowley.
Simon Fraser peppered 25 shots at Rosato, who recorded five saves.
Brandon Watson faced four shots and had two saves.
SFU is back in action at home to unbeaten and seventh ranked Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons came-from-behind to knock-off Western Washington 2-1 Thursday. The Falcons (6-0-2, 2-0-2 GNAC), won the opening game of four straight on the road.
"Seattle Pacific is a very good team and this is a rivalry game so we will see if we can carry this momentum forward," said Schneider. "It important for us to score first and it's no coincidence in both our wins this season we have scored first. That will be the goal when we play against Seattle Pacific."
