Clan Loses On Road To Cal State Monterey BayÂ
SEASIDE, Calif. – Simon Fraser University was out-scored by 21 points over the final 13 minutes of the first half and never recovered, losing 93-67 to Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday in a non-conference men's basketball game.

It was the fewest points scored this season by the Clan, who open conference play at home on December 3 against Seattle Pacific (5:15 PM tip-off) followed by the West Gym Whiteout on Saturday, Dec. 5 against Saint Martin's University beginning at 2:30 PM.

The West Gym Whiteout Saturday begins with a women's contest at noon. The first 1,000 fans to the games will receive a free SFU 50
th anniversary commemorative white t-shirt and a chance at several big prizes, such as a $500 travel voucher and $500 SFU Bookstore gift certificate.

In Sunday's road loss at Cal State Monterey Bay, the Otters went on a 40-19 run over the final 13 minutes of the first half to build a 52-31 halftime lead and then coasted to their first victory of the season.

Simon Fraser was able to cut the lead to 17-points several times in the second half but that's as close as they would get.
Â
The loss dropped the Clan to 1-4 on the season while the Otters, who got a career–high 29 points from senior swingman Ryan Nitz, improved to 1-4.

Michael Harper led the Clan with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting while freshman
Oshea Gairey also had 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting. He was 3-of-6 from three-point range and had five assists.

Tyrell Lewin added 12 points and pulled down six boards.

Simon Fraser was 25-of-62 (40.3 percent) from the field, but made just 9 of its 30 attempts from 3-point range.

Cal State Monterey Bay was 36-of-64 from the floor (56.3 percent) and had a big edge on the boards, 44-28.Â
