LACEY, Wash. – Simon Fraser University lost 87-58 to Saint Martin's University in Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball action Thursday night in Marcus Pavilion.
The Saints opened up the game with a 10-0 run and used its first half shooting to go ahead by as many as 26 points. The Clan would get to within 19 in the second half but SMU pushed the lead back out to 33 and coasted for the victory.
Injuries limited Simon Fraser to just six players for this game. The Clan was led by
Andrew Williamson, who had 18 points, and
Oshea Gairey and
Gibran Sewani both with 14 points.
SMU shot 49.2 percent for the game and 55.2 percent in the first half. The Saints also recorded 52 points from the bench.
SMU out-rebounded SFU 44-35.
The loss drops Simon Fraser to 2-23 overall and 1-18 in league play. The Saints improved to 14-13 overall and 8-11 in the GNAC.
SMU was led by Rhett Baerlocher, who tied his career high with 16 points. Trey Ingram added 15 points and Brandon Kenilvort recorded 13 points.
SFU will play its final conference game Saturday at Seattle Pacific University.
