BURNABY, BC --- For the 2019-2020 season, six members of the Simon Fraser Women's Basketball team have been recognized as GNAC All-Academic selections.
Leading the way for SFU is senior PG
Tayler Drynan, who has made the GNAC All-Academic team for a third year in a row, with a GPA of 3.74 in Business Administration. On the court, Dryan is SFU's second leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points per game, while also leading SFU and ranking 4
th overall in the GNAC with 4.2 assists per game.
Jessica Jones, SFU's leading scorer (at 17.3 PPG), made the All-Academic team for a second season in a row. Jones is a Criminology major with an average of 3.88, and is one of the top three-point shooters in DII Women's Basketball, averaging almost three made three-pointers per contest.
Another SFU player receiving academic honours for the second year in a row is
Kendal Sands. Sands is a Kinesiology major with a GPA of 3.74, and averages 5.9 points per game, also shooting over 83% from the free throw line.
Receiving their first All-Academic Team selections are
Claudia Hart,
Sophie Klassen and
Justina Chan.
Hart, a Business Administration Major with a GPA of 3.23, has been a key contributor at both ends of the court this season, putting up 7.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Meanwhile Klassen, a Kinesiology Major with a GPA of 3.88, has been finding her form in her second season, averaging over three points and three rebounds per game off the bench, while also leading SFU in blocks with 12.
Chan, a sophomore from Markham Ontario, has 4.43 GPA in Kinesiology. As the season has progressed, Justina's minutes have steadily increased as she rounds out her game. Currently, she is a perfect 100% from the free throw line.
