BURNABY, B.C. -- The No. 19-ranked Simon Fraser men's soccer team fell 5-0 to No. 10 Colorado Mesa at the Midwestern State University Classic, Thursday in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Mavericks scored three times in the opening half to remain undefeated after five contests, while SFU falls to 3-2.
Connor Glennon and
Brody Thomas led the way for the Burnaby side with two shots apiece. Goalkeeper
Aidan Bain made two saves in net.
Ethan Anderson tallied twice within the first 34 minutes, and teammate Fernando Morales fired home a shot in the 43rd. Second-half goals from John Roberts (77th) and Leo Mireles (83rd) rounded out the offence.
CMU held a 12-7 advantage in shots, and finished ahead 7-4 on corner kicks.
SFU will look to rebound Saturday at 3 p.m. PT against the host team, 18th-ranked Midwestern State.
