SFU welcomes fans back for home sporting events

9/8/2021 2:17:00 PM

SFU will welcome fans back to its Burnaby campus this fall to enjoy the opening of the new SFU Stadium at Terry Fox Field and in-person sporting events as the university prepares for a return of in-person academic activities this fall. An official celebration of the new stadium will take place at a later date. The health and well-being of SFU's students, staff, guests and the university community is SFU's top priority. Sports events will be conducted with the utmost attention to health and safety. All attendees will be required to follow provincial and university event safety protocols. As is necessary during these unpredictable times, proceeding with these events in-person will remain dependent on public health regulations. Please check https://athletics.sfu.ca/ for updates.

Individuals must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. By October 24, individuals must be fully vaccinated. The requirement is in place until January 31, 2022 and could be extended.

Masks are required for all individuals to wear indoors while on campus.  Masks must be worn by all spectators at all times in the West Gym. Participants, including players, coaches, support staff and media on the sidelines, must wear masks throughout the duration of all athletic events and during pregame and postgame activities. Volleyball will host games in the West Gym on Sept. 14 (6PM) and Sept. 18 (2PM).
