BURNABY – Five players scored in double figures and SFU set a school NCAA-era record with 11 blocked shots as the Red Leafs beat Douglas College 83-46 Saturday evening at the West Gym.
The non-conference win improved SFU's record to 3-1 overall as the team heads into the Colorado Mesa Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 25 and 26.
Freshman guard/forward
Immanuel Oludele led all scorers with 17 points in 17 mins on 6-of-10 shooting, connecting on 4-of-6 threes. SFU was 9-of-30 on threes on the game.
Jahmal Wright and
Georges Lefebvre had 11 points each while
Nigel Hylton and
Zach Stone scored 10 points apiece.
SFU, which led 42-24 at the half, combined to swat 11 shots with Stone leading the way with four. Stone led all players with eight rebounds and Hylton had seven.
SFU begins conference play at home on Saturday, Dec. 3 with a men's and women's basketball double header against Western Washington. The women's game starts at 5:15 pm and the men's game is at 7:30 pm.
