HONOLULU – The SFU Red Leafs split a pair of games on the second day of the Hawai'i Challenge, overpowering Hawaii Pacific 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) after losing earlier in the day to Chaminade University 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-18).

Eva Person recorded 31 assists in the win over Hawaii Pacific. SFU simply dominated, hitting at a .315 clip compared to HPU's .135 percent and having an advantage in kills, 49-to-25, aces, 9-to-4, assists, 46-to-23 and digs, 50-to-39.
Hartmann connected on 10-of-14 (.714) attacks while Lachapelle was 10-of-22.
SFU overcame a first set 17-13 deficit with an 8-0 run to take control against the Sharks and never looked back. The Red Leafs only trailed one more time in the match, when HPU took a 1-0 lead to open the second set.
Lachapelle led the Red Leafs (2-1) with 12 kills in the match against Chaminade, who were making their home debut. SFU rallied to overcome a 7-2 deficit midway through to taking the first set, 25-21.
Chaminade took a 17-11 lead in Set 2 and then ended it with a 5-0 rally to even the match 1-1.
SFU was leading 17-15 in the pivotal third set, but an attack error, a pair of kills and an ace put Chaminade ahead, 19-17. The 'Swords scored five of the set's final six points to take the match lead.
The Red Leafs would not go away quietly, however, staying within two points of the Silverswords in the fourth until a decisive 6-1 run lifted Chaminade to their home debut victory.
Chaminade put down 48 kills to Simon Fraser's 37, had a 42-to-35 advantage in assists, and a 64-to-56 advantage in digs.
The Red Leafs will have their final match of the tournament at 1 p.m. (PT) against Sonoma State on Saturday.
